Bay Area Genetic Laboratory (BAGL) is a Canadian CAP-accredited genetic testing lab using validated molecular tests and advanced platform technologies to provide service to numerous regions across North America. 

This test identifies gene mutations that infer resistance to anti-EGFR therapy for treatment of metastatic colon cancer.  At least 30% of patients with metastatic CRC will have a KRAS mutation. Patients with a KRAS mutation respond poorly to anti-EGFR chemotherapies therefore, knowledge of their mutation status will aid in developing an effective course of treatment.

The KRAS test looks for 7 point mutations, 6 in codon 12, and 1 in codon 13.  DNA is extracted from paraffin embedded tissue and mutation analysis is performed.
